How long does a dedicated circuit install take?

Most residential dedicated circuits take 2–5 hours depending on cable run and whether walls need opening up.

Will you pull a permit?

Yes if required (EV, spa, pool, sauna, new 240V appliance). Simple 120V circuits sometimes do not need one but we recommend permitting anyway for resale.

Can you run it through conduit outside?

Yes. Outdoor conduit runs are common for EV, spa, and detached-garage workshops. We use PVC or metal conduit sized to code.

Will my panel handle another circuit?

We do a load calc during the quote. If the panel is full or service is undersized, we recommend a subpanel or service upgrade.

What is a dedicated circuit and when do I need one?

A dedicated circuit powers only one appliance or location. Code requires them for ranges, dryers, dishwashers, disposals, microwaves, fridges, and any 240V appliance. Recommended for any high-draw device that would share a circuit otherwise.

Sharing a 20A kitchen circuit with a refrigerator and a toaster is a recipe for tripped breakers and a spoiled fridge. Dedicated means the circuit does one job, and nothing else is on it.

Dedicated circuit terms

Electrical work uses specific terms. Here is what the jargon means in plain English.

NEMA 14-50: A 240V, 50A outlet with neutral and ground. Common for EV chargers, ranges, and welders.
NEMA 6-50: A 240V, 50A outlet without neutral. Common for welders and some EV setups.
GFCI breaker: A ground-fault-protected breaker used where code requires, such as spa and pool circuits.
